LA JOLLA: The National University system recently announced the addition of John F. Kennedy University as its newest affiliate, pending final approval by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Its flagship school, National University, is based in La Jolla and serves 22,000 full-time students.

The school is the second-largest private, nonprofit university in California.

The addition of John F. Kennedy University, which is based in Pleasant Hill, would enable the system to offer its first doctoral program – a doctorate in psychology.

Other affiliates of the system include National Polytechnic College of Science, Spectrum Pacific Learning Co., National University Virtual High School, National University Academy of Health Sciences, WestMed College and National University International.
