LOS ANGELES – The coroner's office says the driver of a stolen SUV who led police on a chase before crashing in flames in Rosemead died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
Coroner's spokesman Ed Winter says it's unclear if he shot himself before or after the Saturday afternoon crash. The badly burned man hasn't been identified.
Los Angeles police Officer Marjan Mobasser says officers began chasing the Toyota 4Runner because it belonged to a woman who was murdered.
The body of 64-year-old Connie Chang was found Aug. 7 inside her J.J. Cafe in Gardena. She was shot to death.
