ELKO, Nev. – A 15-year-old California girl has died from injuries she suffered in a crash on U.S. Highway 93 about 60 miles north of Ely.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says Lucero Torres of Ventura was ejected from a Chevy Tahoe on Sunday. She was a passenger in the rear seat and had not been wearing a seatbelt.
The patrol's accident report says the crash occurred about 8:15 a.m. after the driver “became inattentive, drove off the road and lost control.”
The driver was identified as 38-year-old Auerlia Aparicio De Chacon of Bakersfield, California. He and six other passengers who were injured were taken to an Ely hospital where there condition was not immediately known.
