San Diego Fly Fishers sponsors a Lend-A-Rod program on Sundays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and it includes free bait and tackle and fishing tips.
Cuyamaca: Trout fishing slow with warm water, still seeing a few taken on bait and trolling. Crappie and catfish are providing action. Limits for Crappie. Catfish taking night crawlers or mackerel on the bottom. Bass taking top water around weed mats. Auston Hawley, San Diego, 3-pound, 8-ounce channel catfish, night crawler; Tom and Tommy Lemke, Alpine, 49 crappie, tube jigs. Private boats now are allowed on the lake, but the boats must be sprayed for quagga mussels by a high-pressure heated wash prior to entering the lake. Cost is $10 for the spraying and it's good for multiple trips to Cuyamaca so long as the boat is not used in another reservoir in between visits. Open daily.

Diamond Valley Lake: Hot days continue. Bass more aggressive with most holding between 10-25 feet and biting on a variety of baits. Tourt found in 40-60 feet down. Tom Szczeblowski, Yorba Linda caught a 5.85-pound trout with a night crawler at 40 feet on the west dam. Catfish catch strong at east dam in 10-20 feet down. Open daily.
Dixon: Next stock of catfish, 2,000 pounds, July 17. Open daily, plus Friday and Saturday for night fishing.
El Capitan: 139 anglers checked caught 8 bass (kept), 269 bass (released), 1 bluegill, 4 crappie and 5 channel catfish. Summer schedule with Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays open for fishing, general boating and water contact activities (waterskiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, towing inflatables in the front bay only); Sundays are open for fishing, boating, and water contact activities (in both the front bay and North Arm); Mondays are open for fishing and general boating only. Rental boats are available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. On Sundays they stop renting boats at 10 a.m. All persons entering reservoir property must purchase a day use permit.
Henshaw: Open daily for fishing, plus Friday and Saturday for night fishing.
Hodges: 107 anglers checked caught 94 bass (released), 43 bluegill and 10 crappie. Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
Jennings: Latest catfish stock of 1,000 pounds was yesterday. Richard Jensen, San Diego, 3-pound channel catfish on mackerel at Eagle Point; Andy Moreau, Santee, 10-pound 6-ounce blue catfish on anchovy at Cloiser Cove; Zac Conner, Lakeside, 6-pound 6-ounce channel catfish on mackerel at launch ramp. Troy Earehart, Alpine, 7-pound 2-ounce largemouth bass on power worm at Hermit Cove. Loveland: 154 anglers reported 54 bass (kept), 178 bass released) and 1 bluegill. Open daily to hike-in fishing only on a limited area of shoreline. No permits required. Fishing license is required.
Miramar: 72 anglers checked caught 10 bass (released), 13 bluegill, 3 rainbow trout and 8 channel catfish. Open daily to fishing. Miramar's launch ramp and boat dock are now open. The road across Miramar's dam is now open. Patrons can walk across the dam and all the way around the lake. Pay fees at iron ranger or electronic pay station near the concession building.
Morena: Open daily.
Murray: 62 anglers checked caught 3 bass (kept), 90 bass (released), 13 bluegill and 3 channel catfish. Open daily to fishing and boating. Pay fees at iron rangers near the abandoned concession building or at key access points.
Otay, Lower: 328 anglers checked caught 16 bass (kept), 322 bass (released). 432 bluegill (largest 0.65 pounds), 1 crappie (1.75 pounds), 4 rainbow trout (largest 1.75 pounds) and 13 channel catfish (largest 7.75 pounds). Angelina Clowers, 4, of Chula Vista caught a 4.15 pound largemouth bass using plastic worm at Harvey Arm. Mike Broadhead, Sr. and Mike Broadhead, Jr. are winners of the El Cajon Ford Night Tournament, catching three largemouth bass, 12.64 total weight, largest 7.32 pounds. Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Pay fees at iron rangers near the boat launch and abandoned concession building. Boats now available for rent.
Otay, Upper: 23 anglers checked caught 43 bass (released), largest 3.95 pounds. Open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday for fishing, sunrise to sunset. Upper Otay is a catch and release only fishery. Bait is not permitted, only artificial lures with barbless hooks. Boats are not permitted on Upper Otay, only shore fishing, waders and float tubes.
Poway: Next stock of catfish, 1,000 pounds on July 22. Notable catches: Grace and Dan Bubke, San Diego, double limit of catfish with largest at 3.5 pounds, using mackerel. Ramon De La Cruz, Ramona, 10.2-pound trout on a night crawler in Half Moon Bay. Open Wednesday through Sunday, plus Friday and Saturday for night fishing. In order to prevent the introduction and infestation of quagga mussels, the following items are prohibited at Lake Poway: float tubes, private motors and anchors, live bait containers, fish finders, floating catch baskets, live bait from any source other than the Lake Poway concession, any items the staff considers to be potential contaminants.
Santee Lakes: Austin Palmer, age 6, with help from father John landed 6 catfish out of lake 7 on mackerel, largest 4 pounds. Manny Roybal and grandson Isaiah Gomez, 5, caught limits of catfish out of lake 3 on mealworms (total weight 19 pounds). Austin Hilderbrand and Trent Forster, both age 12, from El Cajon, caught 4 catfish out of lake 4 on stinkbait (total weight 9 pounds 8 ounces). Nathan Nunez, 12, Santee, caught 2 catfish out of lake 2 on redworms (2 pounds each). Ben Dayton, 14, Santee caught an 8-ounce bluegill on out of lake 5 on redworm. San Vicente: 112 anglers checked caught 8 bass (kept), 122 bass (released), 367 bluegill, 47 redear sunfish, 9 crappie and 24 channel catfish. Now on its summer schedule with Thursdays open to fishing and general boating only (no water contact), Fridays open to fishing, boating and water contact activities (waterskiing, wakeboarding, towing inflatables), Saturdays and Sundays open to boating and water contact only (no fishing). Rental boats are available on Thursdays and Fridays only. All persons entering reservoir property must purchase a day use permit. Due to construction, the shoreline from launch ramp to buoy line is closed to all activities. Sutherland: 92 anglers checked caught 285 bass (released), largest 5.87 pounds; 24 bluegill, 15 crappie and 17 channel catfish. Notable largemouth bass caught: Michael McKnight, Ramona, 5.15 pounds on plastic; Brandon Roche, San Diego, 5 pound, plastic; Greg Lukacs, Ramona, 5.65 pounds, plastic; and Greg Gardner, 5 total (20.34 pounds), largest (5.28 pounds).

Sweetwater: 74 anglers reported 17 bass (released), 1 bluegill, 4 carp and 4 channel catfish. Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday to limited shoreline fishing only.
Wohlford: Bass conditions remain productive. Michael Marcinowski, San Diego, 10-8 bass (catch and release), plastic worm, west of Senior Shoreline. Crappie have moved to deeper water but a few are still coming in. Small sized Bluegill are hitting red worms in Oakvale Cove. Carp action has picked up and dough balls are the preferred bait. Whopper contest leaders for July: J. Harris, 2-4 crappie; Mathew Sanger, 14-6 catfish; Michael Marcinowski, 10-8 bass. Ban on private boats remains in place due to the threat of quagga mussels. Other banned equipment include canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, etc. Rental boats available. Open daily.

Seaforth: 58 anglers, three one-and-one-half-day boats: 101 albacore, 40 bluefin, 2 yellowfin, 7 yellowtail. 31 anglers, one three-quarter day boat: 2 yellowtail, 35 barracuda, 155 sand bass, 20 rockfish. 60 anglers, two half-day boats: 21 barracuda, 600 sand bass, 2 sculpin, 1 halibut; 29 anglers, one twilight boat: 192 sand bass.
Mission Bay – 20 anglers, one two-day boat: 23 albacore, 1 bigeye tuna, 26 dorado, 12 yellowfin, 82 yellowtail. 22 anglers, two three-quarter-day boats: 59 barracuda, 25 calico bass, 97 sand bass. 64 anglers, two half-day boats: 36 barracuda, 481 sand bass, 3 sculpin.
Oceanside: 23 anglers, one three-quarter-day boat: 2 sand bass, 78 calico bass, 4 rockfish. 28 anglers, one half-day boat: 4 sand bass, 8 calico bass, 1 sheepshead, 10 rockfish. 25 anglers, one half-day charter boat: 36 sand bass, 14 calico bass, 6 sculpin, 5 rockfish.
Big Halibut: George Iwamoto of South San Gabriel caught a 41.4 pound halibut on a sardine. Iwamoto was on a the American Angler, which ended a five-day trip yesterday, docking at Pt. Loma Sportsfishing.
